TechWrxWV Program Helping to Create Meaningful, Measurable Change in WV

TechConnect West Virginia’s recently completed TechWrxWV project resulted in the creation of 125 new jobs, the retention of 114 existing jobs, the launch of 34 new businesses and attracted $10.3 million in follow-on funding for entrepreneurs and early-stage companies.

“The goal of the program was to see more successful startup companies launch and early-stage companies grow in West Virginia, contributing to both job and wealth creation in the region,” said Rich Giersch, executive director of TechConnect. “We are thrilled with the success of the program and greatly appreciate the support of the U.S. Economic Development Administration and the State of West Virginia”.

The project was designed to address remaining gaps in West Virginia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and scale the work that began under earlier TechConnect initiatives. TechWrxWV offered a suite of programs that 1) encouraged more entrepreneurs to launch companies, 2) helped build a more robust entrepreneurial culture, 3) increased capacity and expertise to assist entrepreneurs upon engagement with TechConnect and its partner technical service providers, and 4) helped increase access to more early-stage capital.

Programs like TechWrxWV are making it possible for West Virginia entrepreneurs and early-stage companies to create meaningful, measurable change in West Virginia through new companies, jobs and wealth.
