TechConnect West Virginia to Host Government Contracting Workshop Series in May
TechConnect West Virginia will host a series of four workshops about how to win federal government contracting in May. Small businesses and manufacturers who are interested in competing for government contracts, but have limited experience in doing so, are encouraged to attend.
The series is presented as part of the AIM Higher Consortium, a regional program funded by the Department of Defense with the goal of strengthening the defense supply chain in the State of West Virginia and the Greater Pittsburgh region of Southwest Pennsylvania. TechConnect West Virginia is proud to partner in this initiative.
AIM Higher exists to support small and medium manufacturers who are currently working in the Defense manufacturing supply chain or are actively pursuing opportunities in the DoD space.
Small manufacturers and businesses that are not part of the DoD supply chain can attend these virtual trainings to learn the basics about doing business with the federal government.
Melissa Loder, Senior Area Business Opportunity Specialist at the West Virginia District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration, will lead the sessions. With a wealth of experience in helping small businesses for many years, Ms. Loder is an expert at guiding small businesses that are interested in procurement and contracting.
The series will explore the basics of government contracting, including how to register to do business with the government, how to identify opportunities, how to market your business and where to find assistance.
One session will provide a general overview of the Small Business Administration certification programs with a specific emphasis on the requirements for becoming certified as a Woman-Owned Small Business. In another session, a panel of experts—individuals who are currently contracting with the government—will share advice and words of wisdom.
The one-hour workshops will be held at 3 pm on May 5, May 12, May 19 and May 26. There is no fee, but registration is required.
