SBA’s West Virginia District Office Welcomes New Deputy District Director
The U.S. Small Business Administration’s West Virginia District Office welcomes George Murray as its new Deputy District Director.
Murray, a native of Abington, Pennsylvania, has worked for the agency for the past eight years. Most recently, Murray held the position of Lead Economic Development Specialist at SBA’s Eastern Pennsylvania District Office.
Murray brings a wealth of experience with him to the mountain state. “I have a passion for educating small businesses on government contracting,” states Murray. “Because of the proximity to Washington DC, there is a vast opportunity for small businesses in West Virginia to take advantage of federal contracts as a means to grow their business.”
Prior to joining the SBA, Murray worked as a Senior Market Research Analyst with SWOT Management Group, a sales and marketing consultant supporting information technology firms.
In Murray’s role as Deputy District Director, he’ll assist the District Director in all phases of the district’s operating programs including: outreach, marketing, training, lender relations, exporting and government contracting.
“George is a great addition to our already outstanding team,” SBA’s West Virginia District Director Karen Friel said. “His government contracting knowledge and management experience will help our state’s small businesses and strategically lead our team to the next level.”
Murray looks forward to relocating his family, including his wife and four children, to the Mountain State at the end of the school year.
