The next “Seeking Solutions | Celebrating Successes” Listening Tour Session of the West Virginia House of Delegates will be in Logan on September 8. The open “town hall” type meeting is part of a series that are being held around the state, and the sessions are open to all West Virginians but is targeted to small businesses and those interested in entrepreneurship.  “The hope is for area business owners and entrepreneurs of all ages and experience levels to attend – from someone thinking about starting a new business to the third-generation family business owner,” said  Delegate Doug Skaff (D-Kanawha). Skaff is the Chairman of the House of Delegates Committee on Small Business, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development (SBEED). The September 8 session will start at 6:00 p.m. at the Special Occasions Event Center at 384 Yuma Road in Logan.

House Speaker Timothy R. Miley (D-Harrison) introduced the Listening Tour in late 2013 with the objective to hear firsthand from West Virginia small business owners and entrepreneurs. “We will work collaboratively with people at the local level to hear from as many successful small businesses and entrepreneurs as possible to determine what hurdles they might have faced that we, as a legislative body, can remove to allow small businesses to flourish,” Miley said.

Commenting on the Listening Tour value, Delegate Skaff stated, “The listening tour to date has truly raised our awareness of what is working well for small business in West Virginia, while very importantly, and bringing to the surface concrete ideas to help improve the climate for small business in our state. I look forward to hearing first hand from businesses and entrepreneurs in the Logan area.”

The event will be facilitated with the majority of time devoted to listening to the business participants attending. For more information or to register in advance of the event visit http://listeningtour.csurv.com, email wvhodlisteningtour@cesd.wvu.edu, or call CESD, Inc. at 304-293-5551 x 0.
