Dr. Kathryn Sullivan, the Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and Administrator for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), will deliver the opening keynote address at TechConnect’s 2014 Women & Technology Conference, to be held Oct. 16-17 at Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling, WV.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Sullivan to the Women & Technology Conference and hear firsthand from the first American woman to walk in space, who flew three shuttle missions during her 15-year career with NASA,” said Anne Barth, executive director of TechConnect.

A distinguished scientist, renowned astronaut, and intrepid explorer, Dr. Sullivan has played a central role in NOAA’s work in the areas of weather and water services, climate science and services, integrated mapping services, and Earth-observing capabilities.

“West Virginians will also be interested in her leadership as President and CEO of the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) in Columbus,” Barth added.

The Women & Technology Conference was created by TechConnect to encourage and inspire women involved in technology education, research, private enterprise, the public sector, investing, and entrepreneurship. To register, or for more information, click here.

Participants will get top tips on career reinvention, as well as the best ways to utilize social media.

Barth said the conference is aimed at women at all stages in their career, whether from the private sector, public sector, higher education, research or government.

“When women come together, amazing things happen! And this conference offers an outstanding line-up of successful women who will share their leadership journeys and wisdom,” Barth added.
