All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and embark on a three-day frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekend culminates with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback!
Participants experience the process of starting a business, from the initial pitch to prototyping. Day one involves networking with practicing professionals, pitching ideas and forming teams. Teams work on realizing the project throughout day two, and the prototype is presented on day three.
This event will allow you to immerse yourself in a free-range environment where you will be able to utilize the resources around you to convert thoughts into action. Your teamwork skills will also be put to the test as you work with other innovative thinkers who bring a variety of different ideas to the table. As you learn how to create a real company, you’ll meet the very best mentors, investors, cofounders, and sponsors who are ready to help you get started.
Event sponsors include TechConnect West Virginia, RCBI, the Marshall University Lewis College of Business, and BB&T.
