Alcon Executive to Keynote WV Bio Summit

BioWV LogoAlcon is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of eye care products and technologies.  The company’s

largest producer of intraocular lenses is situated just outside Huntington, West Virginia.  Intraocular lenses are small artificial lenses that replace the eye’s natural lens following cataract surgery.

The Huntington site was built in 1970 and originally owned by California Intraocular Lens Corp. In 1989 Alcon acquired the company.  Over the years, the company has seen significant growth and in 2011 Alcon was acquired by Novartis – one of the world’s leading diversified healthcare companies.

Michelle Dixon, General Manager of the Huntington facility which employs nearly 800, will speak about the company’s past, present and future, as well as the importance of innovation, during her keynote presentation at the 6th Annual West Virginia Bioscience Summit.

The event will begin at 11:30 am on Tuesday, April 26 with a keynote luncheon followed by an afternoon of featured presenters.  Tuesday evening guests will be treated to a fun evening reception in downtown Huntington.  The program continues on Wednesday morning, April 27, and will run through noon.  An agenda will be announced soon.

The event will be held at Marshall University’s Foundation Hall, which is located on 5th Avenue on the campus of Marshall University.
