Emily Calandrelli, Harvard NASA Tournament Lab, FOX’s Xploration Nation: Outer Space

A Morgantown native, Emily Calandrelli graduated from WVU with a dual degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.  While at WVU, she was awarded the Truman, Goldwater, and USA Today All-USA Academic First Team, the first student at WVU to be awarded all three. After graduating from WVU, she earned a dual Masters in Aeronautics and Astronautics as well as Technology and Policy at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  While at MIT, she was awarded the Rene H. Miller Award which is awarded to a student who has done the best piece of work in systems engineering in the AeroAstro Department at MIT. Today, Emily works at the Harvard NASA Tournament Lab where she continues to enable government agencies to procure the most innovative software and algorithmic technologies through the use of prize-based contests. She is also a producer and host of an educational outer space show, Xploration Outer Space, which will premiere on FOX and Hulu next fall. ​

Carrie Scanlon, Bordas and Bordas Attorneys, PLLC

Carrie became a member of the Bordas & Bordas staff in October of 2012 as the firm’s Director of Communications and Philanthropy. She has more than 17 years of experience in marketing, public relations and sales. In previous appointments, she has been responsible for grass-roots public relations efforts as well as award-winning advertising campaigns, record-breaking special events and product launches. A graduate of Bethany College with a degree in public relations, Carrie also holds a Master’s degree in Communication Theory and Research from West Virginia University and is all-but-dissertation in her doctoral studies in Communication Media and Instructional Technology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her doctoral work focuses on crisis communication and image repair strategies. Carrie has presented at national and regional communication conferences on public relations and the use of social media in crisis communication scenarios. A resident of Moundsville, she is a former adjunct faculty member at Wheeling Jesuit University and West Virginia Northern Community College where she taught Integrated Marketing Communication courses. She serves on the Board of Directors of the YWCA in Wheeling, WV. In her free time, she volunteers as a YMCA swimming official and participates in community theatre as a cast member at Towngate.

Kristen Perko, Direct Online Marketing, Wheeling

Kristen Perko is Digital Marketing Manager at Direct Online Marketing, West Virginia’s oldest and largest internet marketing agency that offers search engine strategies, social media marketing, display advertising, and online reputation management to clients around the world.   Kristen has seven years of sales, marketing, and editing experience, including copywriting, training, and presentations. She currently manages Direct Online Marketing’s organic efforts, including search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing, local SEO, web analytics, online reputation management, content creation, and link building.  She holds a variety of internet marketing certifications, including Google Analytics Individual Qualification (IQ).
