Serial Entrepreneur, WV-Native George Bennett to Keynote WV Bioscience Summit April 25

Morgantown, West Virginia-native and serial entrepreneur George Bennett has been building innovation-driven businesses for more than 40 years. From international consulting firms to healthcare enterprises, Mr. Bennett will share his story and offer strategies for growing the West Virginia life science economy during his keynote presentation at the 7th Annual West Virginia Bioscience Summit on Tuesday, April 25th. The event will be held at the Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown.

The event will also feature what is sure to be a fascinating “fire-side chat” between Marshall University President Jerome Gilbert and West Virginia University President Gordon Gee discussing the role of academia in spurring private sector life science growth.

Mr. George Bennett

George Bennett is the chairman and chief executive officer of Good Measures, LLC, a firm he co-founded in 2011 which has developed a breakthrough approach for helping individuals improve their eating habits.

Mr. Bennett earned a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from West Virginia University in

1967 and his MS and PhD degrees in Industrial Administration from Carnegie-Mellon University. Following graduation, he joined the Boston Consulting Group, but soon thereafter co-founded Bain & Company (1973) and Braxton Associates (1976) – two very highly regarded international strategy consulting firms.

He later co-founded Symmetrix, a management consulting firm that specialized in helping large firms translate innovative strategies into cost effective operating practices and in 1997 co-founded Health Dialog, an international health care services company that provided services that were available to 24 million individuals.

Mr. Bennett served on the Grace Commission, a commission created by President Ronald Reagan to bring state-of-the-art business practices to the federal government. Bennett has remained active in Washington and has been an active participant in the ongoing debate regarding health reform.

Among many honors, Mr. Bennett was inducted into the West Virginia Business Hall of fame in 2014 and in 2015 he was honored by the WVU Foundation as the WVU Outstanding Philanthropist.

WV Bioscience Summit Details:

State and regional leaders – from the life sciences, academia and government – will inform, educate and inspire attendees on a variety of topics during the West Virginia Bioscience Summit.  The event will begin at 10:30am and run through 6pm.  The full agenda will be announced soon.

Life Science Research Showcase & Reception

The event will feature the Life Science Research Showcase & Reception. Conference attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the fascinating work underway at WVU and other state research institutions.  This event is open to ALL West Virginia faculty-led research teams from across the state!  For additional information or to participate, contact Bryan Brown.

The event will be held at the Waterfront Place Hotel.
