Innovation, ideas on display at State Capitol

The Charleston Gazette, Jan. 28, 2015

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — More than 40 exhibitors will put their innovations on display at the Capitol to illustrate the power of West Virginia’s cutting edge economy.

The event today is called “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Day.” It’s hosted by TransTech/Industries, Future-West Virginia and TechConnect West Virginia.

West Virginia’s innovation economy includes technology-based companies, manufacturers, research organizations, economic development organizations and entrepreneurs.

Anne Barth is executive director of TechConnect. She said the goal of the Capitol event is to put a face on the innovation economy, sending a message to policymakers that the industry is alive and well and growing.

Two awards will be presented during the day. They include the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Green Advanced Manufacturing and the Governor’s Award for Leadership in Industrial Energy Efficiency.
